Hydrogen fuel cells enable the zero-emission mobility. In the fuel cell system, endplates contribute to clamp components with uniform contact pressure. The Fraunhofer IPT is conducting researches on the hybrid material based endplate. We are looking for a dedicated and motivated student to carry out research as part of a master thesis.

Your tasks

  • Literature and state-of-the-art review
  • Numerical modeling and structural simulation of endplate under compression
  • Topology optimization of endplate for lightweight design
  • Analysis and evaluation of the results

Our requirements

  • Solid background in Mechanical engineering, Simulation sciences or a comparable subject
  • Experience with FEM simulation using ABAQUS is required
  • Knowledge in Fuel cell system is advantageous
  • A high degree of motivation, independence and responsibility
