To achieve full and partial autonomy in optics production, artificial intelligence (AI) systems can be used
in the form of agents. In multi-agent systems (MAS), several agents act together to respond to different
situations and tasks in the production processes. The aim of the work is to develop a MAS based on
microservices within the framework of a research project, whose agents are able to autonomously
optimise processes in optics production.

Your tasks

  • Familiarisation with the state of the art of multi-agent systems
  • Conceptual design of a MAS including the definition of tasks, roles and interactions of the agents
  • Implementation of the MAS using microservices e.g. Docker containers
  • Evaluation and documentation of the results

Our requirements

  • You are studying engineering, computer science or a comparable subject
  • You have initial experience in the field of MAS or microservices
  • A high degree of initiative and team spirit
  • Very good language skills in English

Notice: You can write your project work or thesis with us immediately and in direct cooperation with
the Chair of Metrology and Quality Management. According to the guidelines of the RWTH Aachen
University, the internship is preferably to be completed at a manufacturing company and can only take
place with us in exceptional cases.
