Hydrogen energy is one of the key factors for a sustainable future. The use of innovative fiber-reinforced
thermoplastics enables the production of pressure vessels for hydrogen storage, which at the same time
have a high lightweight potential and recyclability. In order to increase the productivity and quality of
pressure vessel manufacturing, a measuring methodology has to be developed in this thesis that enables
a precise characterization of the manufacturing process.

Your tasks

  • Research of the latest material testing for fiber reinforced plastics and pressure vessels
  • Development of metrological methodology to characterize the manufacturing process of pressure
    vessels, especially in the dome area
  • Programming for method-specific robot control (offline programming) and data processing
    methods

Our requirements

  • You are studying production, automatization technologies, material science or a comparable field
    of study
  • You have experience in fiber-reinforced plastics, CAM software and programming
  • An independent and precise manner of working
  • Good language skills in English

the Chair of Machine Tools. According to the guidelines of the RWTH Aachen University, the internship
is preferably to be completed at a manufacturing company and can only take place with us in
exceptional cases.
